June 16, 2023

Twin Valley Community Grants Feature June 2023

In an era where technology plays a crucial role in our daily lives, access to reliable broadband and innovative solutions has become more important than ever, especially in rural communities. Recognizing this need, Twin Valley, in partnership with the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS), is thrilled to offer a Community Grant Program! This special initiative aims to support and empower local communities in rural Kansas by providing grants for technology and broadband-focused projects. Learn more about the program and find out how Twin Valley and FRS are striving to enhance the quality of life in rural areas and promote sustainable development.

Supporting Rural Communities

As an NTCA member, Twin Valley is deeply committed to the well-being and progress of our local communities. By joining forces with the Foundation for Rural Service, we aim to bridge the digital divide and foster a high quality of life in rural Kansas. Our Community Grant Program offers grants ranging from $250 to $5,000 for projects that leverage technology and broadband solutions to create long-term impacts for the community and its residents. By supporting initiatives in business and economic development, community development, education and telecommunications applications, we aim to address the unique challenges faced by rural areas.

Our Application Process

The Community Grant Program accepts applications each spring, with the deadline for this year’s submissions set for August 1, 2023. To apply for the program, interested individuals or organizations can fill out our online application form. Once all applications are received, Twin Valley will review and evaluate submissions before forwarding them to the FRS for further consideration. The FRS provides priority to projects that can be fully funded by the grant maximum of $5,000 or have at least 75 percent of the project’s funding secured. Additionally, projects that encourage community participation and engagement are given preference.

Eligibility and Exclusions

While the Community Grant Program aims to support a wide range of projects, there are some exclusions to be aware of. Our program does not award grants to individuals, scholarship programs, international organizations or initiatives focused on lobbying, political activities, ticketed events, infrastructure/building campaigns, capital campaigns, endowments, event sponsorships, community food programs, loan repayments, religious-based activities or for-profit businesses. However, if your project aligns with the program’s guidelines and goals, you are encouraged to apply and make a positive impact on your rural community.

A Lasting Impact

Once the applications are reviewed and evaluated, successful applicants will be notified of the next steps to process the delivery of funds. The Community Grant Program offers a unique opportunity to turn innovative ideas into reality and create a lasting impact on rural Kansas. Whether it’s establishing a technology-driven business incubator, expanding broadband access to underserved areas, enhancing educational programs with digital resources, or implementing telecommunication applications that improve connectivity, the grants provided by Twin Valley and FRS can play a crucial role in supporting local initiatives.
