Call 811 Before You Dig

Building a deck? Planting a tree? Installing a fence? Call 811 or submit a ticket online at least a few days before starting any digging project so utility lines can be marked. With summer home improvement projects, several SKT lines have already been accidentally cut, which can lead to unexpected expenses for the homeowner.

How It Works

  • Notify your local one call center by calling 811 or making an online request 2-3 days before work begins. Kansas requires notice of two full working days, not including the day the notice was placed.
  • Wait the required amount of time for affected utility operators to respond to your request.
  • Confirm that all affected utility operators have responded to your request and marked underground utilities.
  • Respect the marks.
  • Dig Carefully around the marks with care.
