At SKT, we recognize the important role we play in providing essential communication and entertainment services to our customers and communities. During this rapidly-evolving coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, access to reliable Internet, phone, and 911 emergency services becomes more important than ever.
The health and well-being of our customers, technicians, and office staff are always our priority. With all this in mind, we want to share our current coronavirus response plan. We will continue to closely monitor reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and federal, state, and local agencies, and will adjust our business operations as needed to help keep employees, their families, and customers safe.
Limiting Face-to-Face Interaction
While our office at 112 S. Lee in Clearwater will remain open during regular business hours at this time, we encourage you to help limit face-to-face interaction.
Employee & Customer Safety
We have shared information provided by the CDC with our staff, including tips on how to protect themselves, their families, and our customers. To help prevent the spread of the virus, we have asked anyone who feels sick to stay home. Additional cleaning and sanitation measures are already in place at all SKT buildings, and employees who have face-to-face interactions with customers have been provided with safety supplies to prevent spread of the virus.
The majority of our office staff already work from home part-time. If and when it is warranted, we will implement additional safety measures, including increasing the number of employees who telecommute full-time, and limiting employee meetings, public events, and non-essential business travel.
Maintaining Services
In addition to our residential customers’ household needs, we recognize businesses, governments, schools, and other organizations rely on SKT’s services to operate. We are committed to maintaining our network during this critical time and providing support to our customers.
Network Capability for Remote Workers
In recent years, SKT has made several upgrades to our network to better handle peak use in the evenings to meet the demands for entertainment, school assignments, and more. With the right bandwidth, you will have access to this same network during the day to allow for remote work if it is required by your job or school. We will monitor the network for overall bandwidth usage and make further adjustments if necessary. If you experience issues, contact our Customer Service team for technical assistance or to evaluate your Internet plan.
Going Forward
Thank you for your understanding during this rapidly-evolving situation as we make every effort to support our customers, employees, and the communities we serve. We will continue to keep you and our employees at the center of our planning and decision-making.
Sincerely,
The SKT Leadership Team
