SKT will provide free Wi-Fi at the six public swimming pools in our service area all summer long. No password is needed to connect. Look for the SKT banners reminding pool patrons of this amenity, which will be at the Belle Plaine Municipal Pool, Burden City Swimming Pool, Cedar Vale Pool, Clearwater Aquatic Center, Dexter Swimming Pool, and the Howard City Pool.
Dana Denton, Co-Chair for the Howard City Pool Restoration Project, says, “We’re thrilled that SKT is providing free Wi-Fi service at the pool again this summer. In an increasingly digital environment, young and old rely on Wi-Fi, especially during their leisure time! Pool-side readers will be able to use the free SKT Wi-Fi to download their digital/audio books. The pool staff also uses the free SKT Wi-Fi to stream music and other digital content, which everyone enjoys!”
Dana adds, “The Howard City Pool has undergone a large renovation and we look forward to opening for the 2021 swim season as soon as the project is completed. Though unfortunate, outdoor construction projects like the pool renovation are subject to weather delays. The frigid temps this winter and the wet spring have impacted the renovation project and made the opening date hard to predict. The pool will open as soon as possible in June, and we will also have a grand opening celebration in July. Details around daily pool activities, swim lessons, and the grand opening celebration to come later.”

Pool Opens: Work continues on the pool (tile, coping, plaster), which has been delayed due to the weather; therefore, the exact opening date directly depends on completion of these pool upgrades, and there is a chance that the pool may not open this season.
