Twin Valley is partnering with Ray’s Apple Market and Clay County Medical Center in its second annual drive-thru event to give away hams ahead of the Christmas Holiday. The 250 free spiral-cut hams will be given to any resident on a first-come, first-served basis at the Clay County Fairgrounds beginning at 4 p.m. on Thursday, December 16. There are no income guidelines or other restrictions other than one ham per vehicle while supplies last – no rain checks.

“In our Pledge, we committed to facilitating meaningful community outreach initiatives. Last year, there were cars lined up around the block for a chance to get a free ham for the holidays, so clearly there’s a need,” Twin Valley President & CEO Ben Foster said. “We are proud to partner with Ray’s and the hospital to continue helping local families in need have a nice holiday meal with their loved ones.”

The Clay County Fairgrounds are located at 205 S. 12th St. in Clay Center. The line will form beginning at 3:45 p.m. heading east along Harriet and cars will enter the fairgrounds at the corner of 12th and Harriet. Vehicles will not be allowed to enter the line westbound on Harriet or from 12th Street. Local police and volunteers will be onsite to direct traffic.

Aaron Floersch, owner of Ray’s Apple Market, ordered 250 spiral-cut hams for the community outreach event.

“It’s been a tough couple of years for individuals and families in the area, and we want to give back to the communities that have supported local, family-owned businesses like ours through the pandemic,” Floersch said. “We appreciate the opportunity to participate in this event alongside two great community partners.”

In addition to its Clay Center location, Ray’s has a market in Beloit along with four others in Kansas and Nebraska.

Twin Valley, Ray’s, and CCMC employees will help direct traffic and give away the hams to local residents. Participants are asked to stay in their vehicles.

“Our focus is on creating a healthy community. The holidays can be stressful, particularly if you’re wondering how you’re going to put food on the table,” CCMC Marketing and Communication Coordinator Christi Rice said. “We’re thrilled to help ease those worries and contribute to Christmas dinner for so many families in need this year.”

Twin Valley will post on its Facebook page and Holiday Ham Giveaway Facebook Event once supplies have run out.
