Diana Weidman, Customer Service Representative, has been an SKT employee for 13 years, and she’s quick to say that one of her favorite things is our customers. Throughout her career, she has gravitated toward positions of serving people, whether working as a day care/preschool para, waiting tables, or in her 13 years at Walmart.

Her cheerful, gentle, and helpful presence greets customers and visitors when they enter the lobby of the SKT office on Lee in Clearwater. “After working in a cold basement for over a year, it’s so nice to be back in the office with my work family and great to start seeing some familiar faces coming back in,” she says with a smile.

In addition to sharing office reception duties, Diana processes the SKT payments that are received by mail or dropped off at the office daily. She also takes customer calls, setting up new accounts or helping customers with their services.

“Diana always treats people the way she would like to be treated. Her natural ability to put herself in someone else’s shoes helps our customers feel heard,” SKT Customer Service Manager Jill McMillan said. “Those qualities directly relate back to the Pledge we’ve made to our communities – to provide quality, hometown customer service.”

Diana was raised in Euless, Texas, (pictured far right, with her siblings) until her freshman year of high school when her dad took a job as a machinist in Missouri. Interestingly, Diana’s dad was Portuguese. Her mom, Siv, is Swedish – she came to the U.S. on a fancy cruise ship when she was in her early 20s. Diana’s parents were married for 57 years before her dad passed away in 2017. She also has an older sister, Gunn (a Swedish name, of course) and a brother, Andrew.

Diana and her husband, Richard, have been married for 35 years. They settled in Clearwater in 2000 when Richard accepted a job as the Branch Manager at Grainger Industrial Supply in Wichita. The Weidmans, their two sons – Rick and Garrett, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren all live in Clearwater. Rick, and his wife, Haley, have two sons, ages 13 and 10; Garrett and his wife, Michelle, have two daughters, ages 3 and 1-1/2.

When her boys were young, Diana did a lot of volunteering at their schools, but she laughs, “That has been a long time ago….” These days, she enjoys spending her free time with her family.

Diana and Richard share a unique passion – a love of zoos. They enjoy visiting zoos with their kids and grandkids, and they also actively support them – especially the Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita. Diana adds, “We love to visit different zoos – Colorado Springs, Dallas, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, St. Louis, Springfield, Omaha, Salina, and of course we are zoo members at the Sedgwick County Zoo!”

Diana is a valued member of the SKT family and Clearwater community.
