Cash prizes were awarded for first, second, and third places. This year’s cover photo was submitted by Char Burke.
For the Clearwater native, the local Co-Op brings a bit of nostalgia. As an adult, Char has made her home around the world, living in Lenexa, Kan., London, Pittsburgh, Pa., Los Angeles, Calif., and Atlanta, Ga., but Clearwater has always been home. During her time living in other cities, she would visit her parents in Clearwater. Every time the grain elevator came into view on the way into town, she felt at home. Char moved back to her hometown in 2006 with her husband and their two daughters. Living in Clearwater again, it reminds her of many good memories with friends and family.
“To me, the Clearwater Co-Op is the past, present, and the future,” Char said.
Second place was awarded to Rex Smith for his photo of the sunflower patch at the Klausmeyer Dairy Farm. Wendy Bullard took third place with a photo of livestock guardian dogs on alert in the snow.
